Virginia-Based Aviation School Waives Student Application Fee

Recently, we covered the opening of the Norfolk, Virginia campus of the Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) to offer high school students courses and credit towards their degree and training.

In an effort to invite more students to experience careers in aviation, AIM waived its application fee on April 25, 2020 for Digital Decision Day. In proper social distancing guidelines, the virtual event was held to guide prospective students in choosing the perfect program and meeting with financial aid advisors to take the next step towards their career.

The career paths available for students to choose from include: Aviation Maintenance Technology, Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT), Aviation Maintenance Technician Avionics (AMTA), Aviation Maintenance Technical Engineer (AMTE), Aviation Maintenance Helicopter Technician, Avionics Technician, Dispatcher, Maintenance Technician, Industrial Manufacturing Technician, Combination Welding, and HVAC.

Admission representative from all career paths hosted planning sessions to give the students advice and information on industry demands and what they can expect in the course and career. With an AMT degree, graduates are eligible to take the necessary FAA exams to earn a mechanic’s certificate with rating in both airframe and powerplant.

While not all courses are offered at every location, there are 12 cities with AIM campuses: Duluth, Georgia; Charlotte, North Carolina; Philadelphia; Irving and Houston, Texas; Indianapolis; Las Vegas; Kansas City, Missouri; Fremont, California; Casselberry, Florida; and Manassas and Norfolk, Virginia.
