Cirrus Aircraft Releases an App for New Piston Series

While we’ve been expecting the newest launch of the 2020 G6 SR Series from Cirrus Aircraft, we didn’t expect their latest launch to be used outside the cockpit. Cirrus has launched an aircraft app to accompany the latest in the SR aircraft series.

This app is designed to let pilots check preflight information on the go. It will be listed on the App Store for iPhones only at the launch scheduled for this month. Pilots are the main target of the app, giving them the capability to check oxygen and fuel levels, oil temperature, aircraft flight hours and location, and even battery voltage.

“That success doesn’t stop our team from pursuing relentless innovation. The addition of the Cirrus Aircraft App is a bold new step towards a fully connected aircraft and we’re proud to be leading the way once again,” CEO Zean Nielsen said.

The SR aircraft is known for being high-performance, single-engine piston aircraft since its launch in 1999 and is a best-seller according to the company. This latest app technology will be available to SR20, SR22, and SR22T models as an optional package. The new aircraft series also received a few technological, furnishing, and technical additions.

Its Garmin technology will include a system that gives pilots visual and audio alerts about unstable conditions on approach. The aircraft series will come in several colors with names inspired by “supercars” like Highlands Green, Volt, Aurora Purple, and Bimini Blue.

Overall, it should be interesting to see how other big names in aviation tackle the rise in technology. It remains to be seen how user-friendly, accurate, and useful the app is.
